Second Week Dailies

 Another set of Voxel Dailies.  I need to make more time for my game development projects 😅

Below are the images are the videos I made for Twitter.

 La Pera, I tried to make it have more of a glass type of look with the color.  I liked the way the voxel modeling turned out.

 El Arbol, I was a little intimidated about making an a tree in an hour but I really liked the way it turned out.

 La Bota, I thought this one was going to be easy.  Boots are a weird and difficult shape 😅

 El Barril,  I think I should of tried to make it a bit thinner to improve the video.

Voxel Semi Dailies

 Last year during October I participated in Octobit.  The daily challenges that are month long never interested me because I felt I would get stuck and quit early.  Nonetheless I participated and stayed determined to finish.  After the challenge I noticed how productive I felt and with smaller scale projects I didn't feel too overwhelmed.  For this year I want to attempt to do daily projects however during Octobit I didn't have as much time for my game development.  Instead of doing art everyday I will do 64x64x64 voxel sized models 4 times a week and use the rest of my time on other projects.  For the first project I wanted to make 'Loteria' cards in Magica Voxel.  Here's what I did in the first week.

 The first card is 'La Escalera' it seemed like an simple piece to ease into the semi daily art.

 

 When I was working on 'El Cazo' I felt it looks rather dull in yellows so I used different colors.

 

 I regret making this particular bottle for 'La Botella'.  I love the bottle and beverage but my other cards were created with more colorful and less accurate colors. Next time I'll most likely do a different bottle with more colors.

 

 In the first week 'Las Jaras' was also done with more accurate colors but I like the way it came out.

Enemy Update

 

 

This week we added the art for the enemy.  The game still needs more thorough testing to see how many enemies will be chasing the player.   I still have to finish coding a few more interactions and add a couple animations but the enemy is close to being complete.

New Year New Projects!

 

With the new year comes some changes.  I felt stuck and uninterested in the other game project I was working on.  When working on the mobile arcade style shooting game I felt as if I wasn't progressing and even if I finished it, there were 16543531 better versions of that game in the store.  After taking a break from game development and working more on art, I figured I should work on a new game that can be ridiculous and plain fun for me.  Here is that project!  The top video is a close up of the character the player will control.  The bottom video is a preview of the game play.

Back to Work!

 

 

 After Octobit I took a break from art to enjoy some time off.  It's now time to start working again.  I will try to finish this Dark Stalkers Arcade cabinet in the next week.  Here is the current WIP.  Made and rendered in Magica Voxel.

Octobit 2021 Day 29 , 30 and 31

 

 "Stained glass"

 The only thing that comes to mind when I hear stained glass is the fight scene between Vicious and Spike in 'Cowboy Bebop'. 

 

 "Gashapon"

 With this subject I wanted to reminisce the simpler times.  I was thinking of making a 'Homies' coin machine or the Tattoo/Sticker one first.  However with the canvas size I like using for OCTOBIT the iconic sticky hand one felt like it would read better.

 

 

"Time's up"

 I wanted to make one more GIF for OCTOBIT and thought the last post would be fitting.  The classic windows waiting hourglass animation was the first thing that came to mind.  After animating all the frames and playing the animation I realized my mistake but decided to keep it call it a wrap to OCTOBIT 2021.

Octobit 2021 Day 27 and 28

 

 "Homewrecker"

 This one was especially difficult.  I had spent a couple of hours trying to make my sketch of Miley Cyrus on a wrecking ball be readable.  After much struggle I scrapped it and made a 1 bit wrecking ball instead.

 

"Robot"

 I had been waiting for the chance to make a Servbot.  I still think I will make one for #256fes as well but this sketch was so much fun to make.
